I write for the same reason that I enjoy reading and admiring others’ writing; I write to tell my story. Everyone has their own background story; every person you pass in the grocery store or drive by on the way to work every day has their own life with stories that you can’t even imagine experiencing yourself. The thought of almost eight billion people on this planet with their own unique tale intrigues me greatly and inspires me to share my story so that maybe I can inspire others. Writing also helps me realize the strength I have from overcoming my past struggles and I hope that one day I can look back at the way I wrote out the story and I will be able to view how my perspective has changed. I’ve always been a person that likes to reflect on my past and I tend to overthink everything so when I write I feel as though I can see what I am making an unnecessarily substantial deal out of and it helps me put everything into perspective.

Just like every writer, I have always had creativity from a young age, but I have been a realist as long as I can remember. I like to be realistic as to not give my hopes up and be disappointed. I would be the kid asking how and why questions to the logistics of fairytales when the other kids were talking about unicorns and dragons. This has affected my writing skills because I was forced to learn how to appeal to readers without sounding pessimistic because truly I have an optimistic spirit. Although I have always been a talkative person I haven’t always been the greatest talker; I will become distracted with side stories, comments, and jokes that pop into my head as I am telling a story that should be short turns into a monologue. Although I might not always sound the most intelligent when speaking I always make sure my voice is loud and my story is heard. Because I am an open book I can often overshare information or open up to people that I would later regret opening up to so I am always scared to feel like I sound desperate for attention which is why I like to write because I can write slowly and methodically plan out how I want to come off to my audience. I can write in so many ways such as poems or use analogies that only I understand the true meaning of which allows me to be as open or as reserved as I want. I write because I can be myself and can feel vulnerable without being judged. I enjoy writing freely where I’m not restricted to the rules embedded in every highschooler of Times New Roman, 12 sized font, double-spaced. I write because I enjoy reading what other people have written and I aspire to enjoy my own writings myself, if not my future children/grandchildren. Ever since I was a child I would write down things I wanted to remember and I have kept every birthday card and letter I have received my whole life so that I can go back and read them and drown in the nostalgia of memories that come rushing back by just a few words.

In conclusion, I write because I want to tell my story and I want it to inspire other people. I hope to have this talent in writing so that I can write things for others to read because as I have experienced, life can change in seconds and it’s important to look at the good times not only while you’re still in them but afterward too. I write my story so that it will never be forgotten.
